Stage Mother
Don't you think my child has what it takes to become a star? You
should be able to see her talent, because she's bursting at the seams
with it. Right now she has four agents looking to sign her to a
contract. She saw eight other agents last month, but none of them
signed her. I wasn't sure that they were good enough to represent
her. I was going to tell them that if they called us back.
They never did. It's their loss. The agent that's
interested in her right now is a very big wig in Hollywood. He
represents Michael Bolton, ah well, he used to represent Michael
Bolton. Not when he was big, but up until a couple of years
ago. Still, he has a lot of influence in Hollywood.
The agent I want to represent my daughter has to know how to market a
triple threat. A girl of all trades, like my daughter. Did
I tell you that my daughter was the lead at the Singing and Dancing
workship she attends. Last year she wasn't able to get any of the
lead acts that are in the show. Only those who pay a certain
amount make it to the show. This year I took a second job in
order to pay that little extra so that my daughter could finally be a
lead in the show. Her specialty is singing, but she does it all.
I have a CD that I burned with all her greatest songs. She wrote
most of them. The last couple of songs are covers, and the
national anthem. We send these CDs to agents. Three months
ago I was up all night putting together about fifty packets, with the
CD and resume, to send to agents. Now granted, it cost a lot of
money to mail all those CDs, but it will be worth it when the agents
start calling. Oh, how many have called? Just one at this
point, but we expect the calls to come in soon. You know how the
mail is. And an agent gets a lot of untalented people sending
them stuff. They have to wade through all that before they can
get to the real talented people, like my daughter. You know how
things are.
Speaking of music, did I tell you that my daughter sung the National
anthem at a game last year? She did. It was great. I
tell you, she could make a lot of money just from singing the national
anthem at games. The way she sings it is truly incredible.
I think she sings it better than Whitney Houston. She hits the
last note way better that Whitney ever could. You should hear
her. Here, I'll give you a CD.

Holiday Shopping
Don't miss this weekend's sale at my store. Nearly all the stores
at the mall will be celebrating Independence day, or is it Memorial
day. Maybe it's Labor day, or Martin Luther King day.
Whatever, it doesn't matter. Holiday's are perfect for me.
Because people don't really care what the holiday is, they just want to
know if I'm going to have a sale. And, of course I will. I
know better than to not have a sale for Veteran's day. Even
though buying clothes hardly has anything to do with Veterans, and
thinking about their sacrifice. Hmm, now that I think about it...
consumerism might actually be the opposite of sacrifice. Oh well,
I just sell clothes. I don't go around telling people what they
should do on these holidays. If they want to buy a shirt for 50%
off, on Martin Luther King day, who am I to say otherwise?
Who was Martin Luther King anyways? Was he President? I
mean, they have Lincoln's birthday, and Washington's birthday on the
same day. How cool is it that two Presidents were born on the
same day, all those years apart? I guess there's something to be
said for being born on that date. Yet, Martin Luther King was
born on a different date, and he was President. So I guess
there's still a chance that I might be President some day.
Memorial day always gets to me. I'm not sure what we're
remembering. It's never talked about while I put up the 50% off
signs. Then again, I can't be watching the news when I have so
many things to discount. I told you that most of the store is
going to be discounted about 50%. Well, I say that, but the
reality is that I only discounted the stuff just enough to get people
in the door. When I sell things at a regular price the item might
be marked up 200%. So, when I discount it I still make a nice bit
of money on each sale.
The next big sale will be during Independence day. Or is it Labor
day? Christmas, it's Christmas. Yeah, now that's a big day
for me. I put up some nice decorations, and I'm ready for some
sales. Thank Jebus he was born.

Good-bye Ronald
Ronald McDonald has announced that he will no longer be the McDonald's
spokesman. "I've been with McDonald's for a long time," said Mr.
McDonald during a press conference announcing his retirement.
McDonald continued, "But my health has taken a turn for the worse, and
I have to focus on getting better." Mr. McDonald's spokesmen
later said that the retirement is was not forced by anyone at the
McDonald's corporation. However, insiders have leaked internal
corporate memos that speak to a force out by the company heads.
Arthur Sampson, reporter for the Fast Food monthly, an industry
newsletter, spoke to us about this move to remove Ronald
McDonald. He says, "Ronald McDonald, after years of loyal
service, is being forced out because he's getting too fat." Mr.
McDonald did appear nearly indistinguishable at the press
conference. His carriage carried a noticeable increase in weight
since his last public appearance during last year's Macy's Thanksgiving
day parade. Even before that appearance, Mr. McDonald was showing
the pounds around his middle.
"You have to know that he's only been eating Big Macs all his life,"
said Arthur Sampson. "He was able to keep trim in the past
because he did so many appearances, and exercised a lot," he
continued. However, Mr. McDonald suffered a knee injury during an
appearance in Kentucky. That injury, and the subsequent operation
and recovery, caused Ronald McDonald to lessen his activities.
However, his diet continued to consist of Big Macs, fries and chocolate shakes. A meal that has approximately 1690 calories, 75 grams of fat, 1660 grams of salt.
In a phone interview earlier this week Ronald McDonald acknowledged
that he had heard about the controversial movie "Super Size Me," but
did not plan on seeing it. "I heard something about it," said Mr.
McDonald, "But I'm not really in a position where I could go and see
it. Maybe I'll rent it when it comes out on video."
